As Nashville residents tire of “Social Distancing” restrictions, a new term, “Quarantine Fatigue” has come to light. Nashville citizens, along with the people of many other states, have had enough of government sanctioned “Stay at Home’ orders.
“As we started tracking this day after day, we knew one day, this ‘quarantine fatigue’ was going to happen. People were just not going to be able to stay at home for a very, very long period of time, but we didn’t expect it to happen so soon,” Dr. Lei Zhang of the Maryland Transportation Institute explained.
“It’s just hard, after people had stayed at home for a month, not knowing what’s gonna happen next, and especially when we try to ask people to stay at home maybe for another month or even longer, without any insight, it’s really challenging.”
The Institute uses location-based service data collected from cell phones and other electronic devices. (Yes, they know when you are being bad and not following orders.) In Nashville, the number of people staying home has dropped from 35% to 27% for estimated non-work excursions outside the home.
Officials are concerned because they feel like the virus can still be passed around as more people travel throughout Tennessee.
