NO DAMAGE WE CAN'T MANAGE!

Sometimes water damage results from a natural disaster. Heavy rains that cause
severe flooding happen. Tornadoes and hurricanes happen and all we can do is
attempt to get out of their way or hope we are lucky and they pass us by. But many
times water damage to our home can be avoided, or through quick action, at least
minimized. Water Mold Fire Restoration, 800-905-0277, is ready to help you,
whether your water loss is caused by a major storm or any other kind of random
event.

Early Warning Signs

Many household water damages can be avoided by periodic homeowner
inspections. Checking for some of these more obvious signs could help you either
avoid the damage before it happens or at least help you minimize the damage that a
water loss could cause:

  • Stains on floors, walls, or ceilings: the appearance of any stain indicates a
problem. It could be caused by a roof leak, a leaky fitting or pipe inside the
wall, a problem with a major appliance (think icemaker, dishwasher, etc.).
  • Warped or lose flooring: water will cause hardwood floors begin to warp
(called cupping) as they absorb water and begin to expand. Ceramic or vinyl
tiles may begin to loosen or shift as their subfloors are affected by moisture.
  • Unexplained water bill increases: if for no reason your water usage increases,
there may be a water leak somewhere in your plumbing causing the increase.
  • Warping or staining on the floors of sink cabinets or vanities: the particle-
board construction on modern day cabinetry is very susceptible to water
    damage.
  • Peeling wallpaper of paint: small bubbles under wallpaper or paint are a sign
of possible excess moisture trapped beneath them.
  • Crusty or corroded plumbing fittings, valves, etc.: fittings and valves should not
appear rusty or have a greenish-colored corrosion surrounding them. If these
things are present there is usually a tiny leak just waiting to cause a failure.

Mold Loves Uncontained Water

Apart from the damage caused by a water loss, the presence of water or moisture
can encourage the growth of mold or mildew on walls, ceilings and floors. Usually by
the time you can see it, mold has firm hold in spaces that can’t be seen, like inside
wall cavities, attics, HVAC systems, or basements and crawlspaces. Because of the
possible health risks that mold can present, any mold problem needs to be
addressed very quickly. According to EPA guidelines, any mold encompassing an
area greater than 9 square feet should be remediated by a mold removal specialist
such as Water Mold Fire Restoration. Call us at 800-905-0277 for a free inspection
and estimate and we will completely and safely remove the mold. If you see any mold, even if you think it is a small amount, call us. We will be happy to discuss the
situation with you.

Through periodic inspection of the common sources of leaks and by taking simple
preventative measures, you can effectively prevent or limit water damage in your
home and avoid the dangers of mold and mildew. We can be reached at 800-905-
