Straight Line Winds Leave Severe Damage Behind

Wednesday morning found neighbors crawling out from under fallen trees, fences, and awnings after a storm damage the weather service said was a result of straight line winds. The weather service saw no signs of rotation on their radar and no signs of damage that would indicate there was a tornado involved.

Korean War Vet Who Contracted COVID-19 at Pembroke Pines Nursing Home Dies

Among the twelve military veterans infected with COVID-19 at the Alexander Nininger Jr. Veterans Nursing Home, was Korean War veteran William Tetreault. He was 89 years old at the time of his death that was caused by the coronavirus.


Tornado Rips Through Northern Georgia; At Least 8 Dead

Last weekend dangerous storms swept through Northern Georgia knocking out power and causing widespread flooding and water damage. The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touchdown in Barlow County to our north and is looking into several other tornado reporting’s, one in southern Fulton County.

Extensive Fire & Water Damage at Phoenix’s Amazon Warehouse

More than forty Phoenix firefighters responded on Easter Sunday to a fire that broke out at the Buckeye Rd. Amazon fulfillment center building. Workers were still in the act of fleeing the building as fire crews arrived on the scene.

The fire, which started on the second floor, was quickly contained and extinguished by the fire crews. Several large plastic bins had caught on fire; the cause of the fire is unknown. The actual fire damage was contained to the second floor. It was not clear what affect the fire and its cleanup would have on operations at the center, but it is assumed that several employees’ work schedules will be negatively affected.

Baltimore Fire Damage

The steeple caught on fire at the Urban Bible Fellowship Church, built on E. Eager Street in Baltimore sometime between 1865 and 1867, right after the Civil War.Firefighters were able to contain the 4-alarm fire to the church even though therewere several buildings in close proximity. Due to the extensive damage, the steepledid eventually fall to the ground and into a small alley that runs between the churchand the Institute of Notre Dame, an all-girls Catholic High School, on the opposite side of the alley.

Mother Starts Home Fire While Children at Home

An 8-year old little boy saw his mother attempting to start a fire in the kitchen in an attempt to burn their house down. He told fire fighters that he tried to stop her by smashing the lighter she was using. The mother proceeded to find another way to ignite the blaze and set the kitchen on fire.

Heavy Rains Flood Franklinton Properties

Near the end of March, Franklinton, a Columbus suburb, received another heavy rain, reported to be 3.51 inches in 24 hours. The city storm sewers are not designed to handle that much rain at one time and water backed up into many lower levels of the neighborhood’s homes.

One manager of 96 rental properties reported that seven of them had flooded basements. Another manager said that she was “up to her knees in **it”.
